France is increasingly on the radar for Ahmedabad students looking at international higher education. With lower tuition fees than the UK or US, world-class engineering and business programmes, and a rich cultural environment, French universities attract a growing number of Gujarat students each year. But the Campus France process has specific requirements — and French language preparation is central to it.
What Is Campus France?
Campus France is the French government agency that manages international student applications for French universities. Indian students applying to study in France must register through Campus France India (via the CEF — Centre pour les Études en France process) and attend a Campus France interview at the designated centre.
The Campus France Interview — What Ahmedabad Students Need to Know
The Campus France interview is conducted in French (and sometimes partly in English). It assesses your motivation to study in France, your knowledge of your chosen institution and programme, and your ability to communicate in French. It is not a formal language exam — but candidates who cannot hold a basic conversation in French often face difficulties.
The most common questions include: Pourquoi la France? (Why France?), Pourquoi cette université? (Why this university?), Qu'est-ce que vous ferez après vos études? (What will you do after your studies?), and Parlez-moi de vous (Tell me about yourself). Each requires a rehearsed, confident answer in French.
What French Level Do You Need?
Most French universities require at least DELF B1 for undergraduate admissions and B2 for postgraduate. Some engineering grandes écoles accept English-medium students with lower French levels initially. We advise Ahmedabad students to check the specific French requirement of their target institution and programme before beginning preparation.
How We Help Ahmedabad Students Prepare
Our Campus France coaching programme covers French language preparation (tailored to your current level and institution's requirements), mock Campus France interviews with detailed feedback, university and programme-specific vocabulary, and cultural preparation — understanding French academic culture, student life, and the context interviewers expect you to know.
Sessions are fully online, available to students across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, and all of Gujarat. We typically begin Campus France preparation at least 3 months before the interview date.
