NCLC stands for Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens — the Canadian language benchmarks for French.

NCLC to CEFR Mapping

NCLC 4-5 ≈ A2. NCLC 6-7 = B1. NCLC 8 = B2. NCLC 9-10 = C1+. For maximum CRS points, aim for NCLC 9 in all four skills.

What Score Do You Need?

Minimum to claim French as second official language: NCLC 5. For significant CRS points: NCLC 7+ in speaking and listening.
